CarbonQuest is an exciting new company developing cutting edge decarbonization solutions with distributed carbon capture projects. Our mission is to “Lead the QUEST for decarbonization by providing urban building owners advanced technologies and solutions that ENABLE acceleration of global carbon reduction NOW”. We are seeking mission driven professionals who can help us accelerate our carbon reduction mission. 

For this position, we are looking for an exceptional engineering professional to join our New York based team, implementing carbon capture installations and maintenance for multiple clients throughout the New York City metro area. As a fast-growing startup company, we are seeking a “roll up your sleeves” hands-on leader who can function as a key individual contributor and leader in our dynamic environment.  This position will work under the direction of our Senior Director of Project Engineering and Construction to implement carbon capture and energy efficiency solutions in residential and commercial buildings throughout New York City to achieve compliance with Local Law 97 restrictions. We are looking to scale up dramatically in the next two years, therefore this position will grow accordingly, reflecting the significant decarbonization opportunity in New York and the region. The successful candidate will be offered a competitive salary with benefits, equity position in the company and an unlimited vacation policy. The position will be based out of the New York City Corporate office, periodically from a home office and travel to customer/project sites as required by the job.

Minimum Job Responsibilities include:

  • Manages all Project Engineering, Procurement, and Construction phases of Carbon Quest’s decarbonization projects.
  • with client reps, internal teams, engineering partners, architects, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • scopes of work, obtains and vets bids, hires subcontractors, engineers, vendors, procures equipment, etc.
  • project budgets and schedules and applies creative problem solving to ensure project budgets and schedules are delivered better than expectations.
  • that all project documentation is properly organized.
  • submittals, RFI’s, and change orders during design and construction.
  • construction and commissioning/startups in the field.
  • equipment during startups.
  • with small tools as needed during the installation phases.
  • operation of CarbonQuest equipment. Obtains test data and monitors performance.
  • closely with authorities having jurisdiction including FDNY, DOB, DEP, etc. to obtain and close-out permits.
  • closely and advises internal product development teams.
  • the pre-sales process and other commercial activities as required
  • conceptual designs for future projects.
  • and documents processes to scale Project Implementation.
  • Manages, coaches, and develops direct reports.
  • Develops, implements, and manages internal workflow processes.

Desired Qualifications / Skills:

  • Mechanical, Electrical, and/or Controls Project Engineering
  • Hands-on Construction Experience.
  • Mechanically inclined, capable of working with small tools.
  • Troubleshooting, commissioning, start-ups of mechanical equipment.
  • Familiar with measurement, instrumentation, and control systems.
  • Engineering and Construction project & budget management.
  • Documentation & Presentation strengths.
  • Safety process development and management.

  • Project Management.
  • Experience managing projects on time, on budget.
  • Team leadership and development.
  • Contributing team player.
  • Experience with Boilers, Building Management Systems, etc. a plus.

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or other Engineering, or other related discipline required
  • 2+ years of project engineering and/or construction experience
  • PE license is a bonus
  • Proficient with suite of standard office tools and project management software
  • CAD experience is a bonus
