Description

The role of the Purchaser-Buyer is to provide goods and services to support the fabrication and on-going operations of our carbon capture plants.  They support the engineering, manufacturing and operations teams to help provide goods and services that comply with specified requirements. 

Additionally, they support the company controller/CFO in reviewing invoices.  The purchaser manages contracts, including negotiations, support staff, terms and provisions of the contract agreement or contract modification.  They support goods receiving, inspection, and inventory management.   

The purchaser will assist in the implementation and on-going management of the ERP system. 

Minimum Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Assists in the procurement of all equipment and components assigned projects. 
  • Assist in the procurement process by identifying potential vendors and assisting in the evaluation process
  • Procures equipment, piping, valves, and instruments according to engineering specifications to include vendor research, proposal management, and proposal comparisons,
  • Assist in the submittal of purchasing requests.   
  • Follows up and track supplier performance to include schedule, cost, and quality. 
  • Helps control project costs by working to meet defined budgets and schedules.
  • Provides regular updates on procurement status to include budget and schedule performance. 
  • Recommends ways to improve performance for suppliers. 
  • Responsible for ensuring procurements follows local, state, and federal environmental policies, regulations and procedures.
  • Facilitate effective communications to keep project stakeholders informed.
  • Works with cross-functional teams to ensure exceptional customer experience. 
  • Maintain vendor file by providing information, such as payment policies for each vendor, list of vendors with contact information and other information, such as products or services provided
  • Manage office inventory for printer supplies, break room supplies, and other areas as required. 
  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned. 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Experiences: 

  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge and applications of mathematics, chemistry, physics, and computer operations.
  • Demonstrated teamwork skills to include leadership, conflict resolution, negotiation, and decision making.
  • Ability to demonstrate effectively communicate expectations, operational concerns and interact with a variety of individuals within multiple levels of the organization.
  • Ability to solve problems and to process information quickly.

  • Demonstrate ability to handle constantly changing and emerging priorities.
  • Ability to effectively utilize a personal computer and the associated programs, systems and databases.
  • Purchasing experience in a cryogenic or gas purification plant or facility is preferred.

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or other degree with a major in accounting or a related field (e.g., business, finance, information systems)
  • Five or more years of experience in purchasing and/or management.
  • Previous experience with contracting or bidding for goods or services
  • Experience with evaluating bids and proposals for contracts for goods or services, including determining costs and comparing bids against one another to select the most cost-effective bid or proposal
  • Effective written and oral communications skills
  • Knowledge in the use of computer software, such as spreadsheet applications (i.e., Microsoft Excel) for data analysis is preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to lead and manage staff
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, set priorities and analyze situations for appropriate action
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize and manage time effectively
  • Proven project management capabilities, strong analytical skills and the ability to develop sound business strategies
  • Proven ability to manage change and resources in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with operations, planning and forecasting
  • Driver’s license is preferred
  • Excellent customer service skills.
