IoT Technician

Description

As an IoT Technician at CarbonQuest, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of our products and services by keeping our systems connected and operating. You will be joining our software services team and working collaboratively to deploy and maintain our systems in the field, as well as working with customers to help them troubleshoot.

The successful candidate will be offered a competitive salary with benefits, equity position in the company and an unlimited vacation policy.  This position will be based out of Spokane, WA at our company HQ, but will be required to travel to project sites, especially to New York City, sometimes up to 50%.    

Minimum Job Responsibilities include:

  • Install, configure, and maintain IoT devices in the lab and in the field
  • Plan, install and configure dedicated networks (cellular, wifi, mesh, etc)
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with IoT hardware and software
  • Engage with customers and other stakeholders and help resolve tech support inquiries
  • Perform remote monitoring and diagnostics of IoT systems
  • Maintain firmware and other remote updates to network equipment (cell routers, sensors, antennas)
  • Collaborate with the Software team to ensure seamless integration of IoT systems
  • Develop and improve IoT solutions to meet business needs
  • Document technical processes and maintain accurate records
  • Travel to project sites including in New York City. Up to twice per month for 5 days at a time

Qualifications / Skills:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in IoT, electronics, network admin or related field
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of cellular and WiFi networking technologies
  • Proficiency in IT systems and networking
  • A customer service orientation and problem solving mindset
  • Experience with various types of sensors and end-to-end configurations
  • Demonstrated ability in remote monitoring and diagnostics
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in the field
  • Be willing/able to travel up to 50% during busy periods

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in energy, utilities and/or HVAC
  • Experience with energy metering
  • Linux operating system experience
  • Familiarity with micro computers (e.g., Raspberry Pi)
  • Knowledge of Modbus, RS485, TCP/IP
  • Understanding of IoT security best practices

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or technical training degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronics or related field (or equivalent experience, no degree required)
